My genetics

I received an early Christmas present today.
From Anthony, my husband.
No. It is not the bicycle.
That is already mine.
It is a genetic test from 3X4 Genetics.
All I need to do is use the swab to gather some cells from the inside of my cheek (mouth).
My first thoughts on receiving my present were that Anthony might be worried that we are, in fact, cousins. The East Rand is a small place.
I am very excited to do the test. As is Anthony. Not only will I discover if I have a new cousin, but I will undoubtedly find out that I am a unique and complex chick from Benoni.
Yes, the few cells harvested from my cheek will be very useful to give me the tools to optimise my well being, prevent chronic illnesses, delay ageing and improve my exercise performance.
I will be very interested to learn the best strategies that my body needs to perform : how to train, when to rest, what supplements to take and what to eat. Hopefully it will reaffirm my suspicion that I should be eating more packets of cheese curls. I also hope that it will reveal that I am indeed an endurance athlete and not someone more suited to activities such as darts, knitting and sewing. But, if it does reveal the latter, I hope that you will be impressed by my perseverance and sheer determination to follow my dreams and not my DNA.
I will keep you posted. My 12x12 (2022) challenge begins on January 2022. Eeek. For more information please visit my website.
You can read more about my 12x12 challenge and join me on some adventures.
Yours in anticipation.
Wearing my best gene pants.
